WordPress and Tags and Pages

Here in the Ivory Towers (more like the dungeons of Mordor) a decision has been made. Greatly influenced by our e-commerce directed websites we feel tags should not be limited to only posts.

Some might see this as a form of criticism of WordPress – no way, the new WordPress 4.1 is working flawlessly so far, and indeed the auto-upgrades, taken tentatively at first, have gone well. Perhaps, however, WordPress still shows some of its old blogging roots. No harm in that, a tipped hat to the days when it liberated millions, providing a simple and reliable platform for you to say your worst (and best).

The world has moved on, and WordPress continues to meet all its requirements handsomely. But that’s not necessarily what I want it for: there is a strong business leaning here, sorry, if I do stuff for free, it’s to support a charity or the community.

So now when a tag is created, all posts and pages carrying that tag will be returned by tag searching: ideal if you are promoting specific products.

If you dont like it, dont use it .. if you twist our arms, we can disable it

We will no doubt continue to customise our WordPress installs with all manner of whatever lunacy grabs us, as long as it achieves something.

Oh, and happy New Year, an ethically prosperous one for all we hope
